Apple Vision Pro will soon enhance its gaming capabilities with the introduction of a native Steam Link app for visionOS, currently in beta for 2D gaming.
This development allows users to access their Steam library directly within the visionOS environment. Valve announced that users can join the Steam Link beta via TestFlight. The Steam Link app aims to improve the gaming experience on Vision Pro, following updates in visionOS 26.4. Streaming capabilities are enhanced, now allowing resolutions up to 4K and dynamic adjustments in panoramic mode.
Despite these improvements, the app only supports 2D streaming and does not allow VR content at this time. This limitation means users can only stream games from their Mac or PC without VR functionality.
Valve stated, “This client is for 2D streaming only and does not support VR content.” The app is already accessible on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV. While questions persist about the long-term potential of Vision Pro, it continues to showcase strong performance for media consumption and expanding gaming options.
