Alibaba has released Qwen3.6-Plus, a new model in its Qwen large language model series aimed at enhancing enterprise “agentic” AI use cases, including coding and multimodal reasoning.
The model represents a key effort to bolster Alibaba’s commercial strategy in AI. Qwen3.6-Plus will be integrated into Alibaba’s offerings, such as the Wukong enterprise AI platform and the Qwen App, to drive operational efficiency for businesses.
Qwen3.6-Plus supports a 1 million-token context window, enabling it to plan, test, and iterate on code for repository-level engineering tasks, while also analyzing various media formats including images, documents, and video.
The model is accessible via Alibaba Cloud’s Model Studio and Qwen Chat and is compatible with third-party coding tools like OpenClaw, Claude Code, and Cline. Selected versions from the Qwen3.6 series will continue to engage with the open-source community.
Alibaba’s introduction of Qwen3.6-Plus aligns with its broader commercial objectives. According to Bloomberg, the launch also included a third closed-source AI model as Alibaba seeks to generate profit from its advancements in AI technology.
Wukong, currently in invitation-only beta, facilitates agentic workflows, allowing for complex, multi-step tasks within business environments. It connects seamlessly with DingTalk, Alibaba’s enterprise collaboration platform, which serves over 20 million users. Automation through Wukong is a central part of Alibaba’s strategy, with planned integration of Taobao and Tmall for modular agent capabilities.
