Google has launched three new Gemini-powered features for Google TV, enhancing user interaction with AI-driven tools. These features include AI-powered visual responses, the ability to explore complex topics through “deep dives,” and narrated overviews of sports events.

The visual response feature provides users with live scorecards and viewing details for current sports games. For example, if a user requests the score of the Warriors game, Gemini will display the score alongside information about where to view the game. Additionally, users can inquire about recipes, receiving both textual responses and relevant video tutorials from Gemini.

The “deep dives” feature allows users to investigate a variety of subjects in detail, including health, economics, and technology. Users can initiate a deep dive by selecting “Dive deeper” from response options or by visiting the Gemini tab on the home screen and choosing the “Learn” option. This addition aims to facilitate user understanding of complex topics by providing narrated visual breakdowns.

Sports fans will benefit from “sports briefs,” which offer narrated summaries of significant events in leagues like the NBA, NHL, and MLB. This feature allows users to stay updated on their favorite teams without needing to watch every game. The sports briefs build on the previously introduced “news briefs,” which were launched a year ago to keep users informed of general headlines.

These new features are being rolled out in the U.S. and Canada, with Google planning to expand Gemini’s capabilities to Australia, New Zealand, and the U.K. in spring 2026, followed by additional countries. Gemini first made its debut on Google TV in September 2025 as a limited release for select TCL televisions. Since then, it has broadened its hardware compatibility and received updates that allow for natural language settings adjustments and voice searching through Google Photos.
