This is a simple guide to making a video using Photoshop by importing a sequence of images and exporting them as an animation or stop-motion film.
How to create a video from images in Photoshop
Follow these straightforward steps to load your image sequence and export it as a QuickTime movie.
- Open Photoshop, then go to File → Open, select the first image in your sequence, and choose Image Sequence from the options.
- In the Frame Rate dialog box, select a value from the drop-down menu or enter a custom frames-per-second rate, then click OK.
- With the first frame displayed, go to File → Export, choose a save location, select QuickTime Movie, and click Settings.
- In the settings dialog, choose Compression Type: H.264, set Size to 1280 × 720 HD, check Preserve Ratio, select Letterbox from the drop-down, click OK, then click Render.
- Wait for the export to complete; the video will automatically save to your chosen location.
- If you need to adjust timing:
- Go to Window → Animation to open the animation panel.
- In the timeline’s film strip (bottom-right corner), click the inverted triangle icon to select different time delays and preview by playing the strip.
- Alternatively, restart the process and re-render with a new frame rate value.
Once your video is exported, preview it in a media player like VLC to check the playback speed and quality. Make any final tweaks by re-importing and adjusting the frame rate if needed.
Share your creation on platforms like YouTube, Instagram, or TikTok for maximum reach. For more advanced editing, import the video into Adobe Premiere Pro to add audio, effects, or transitions.
