ROBLOX FACE TRACKING SETUP GUIDE

Express yourself in Roblox by enabling avatar animation on PC or mobile. Face tracking (also called “animate your avatar” by Roblox) will display your facial expressions and reactions on your avatar while you’re talking. To get started, you’ll need an age-verified Roblox account and a webcam or a mobile device with a front-facing camera.

How to set up face tracking for your Roblox avatar

Follow these platform-specific steps to enable and use avatar animation in Roblox.

Enabling on PC

Launch Roblox and click the cogwheel icon in the upper-right corner to open Settings.
SelectPrivacy from the left-hand sidebar under the Security section.
Toggle on the option labeled “Use camera to animate your avatar with your movement.”
If the option is missing, verify your age by going to Settings → Account Info → Verify My Age.
Check your avatar’s head for support of face animation:
- ClickAvatar → Head & Body.
- Look for a head with a winking-face icon; if none is available, purchase one from the Marketplace.
Enter an experience that supports animated avatars; check the About section for “Camera” listed under Communication.
If tracking isn’t working or you have multiple webcams, select the correct one by clicking the Roblox logo → Settings → Video Camera.
When finished, return to Privacy settings and toggle off the animation option. Warning: Always disable camera access when not in use to protect your privacy.

Enabling on mobile

Open the Roblox app and tap the three-dot button in the lower-right corner to access Settings.
SelectPrivacy, which is the third option below Security and above Parental Controls.
