Google has introduced a new feature for its Gemini AI chatbot that enables users to generate presentation slides directly within the Canvas workspace. Canvas, launched in March, serves as a free interactive tool in the Gemini app, allowing users to share writing or code for editing. It also displays visual representations of code or prompts for projects such as apps, web pages, and infographics.
The presentation generation tool targets students and employees needing quick slide decks. Users can create slides with a simple prompt, like “Create a presentation on [topic].” For presentations based on specific sources, individuals can upload documents, spreadsheets, or research papers first, then request the AI to build the deck from that material. If no particular source is required, the prompt alone suffices.
Generated decks include an automatic theme and integrated images alongside the text. Users can export these presentations straight from the Gemini app to Google Slides for further editing, refinement, or collaboration with team members.
This capability is now rolling out to both personal Google accounts and Workspace accounts, expanding Gemini’s utility for professional and educational tasks.
