Google is set to discontinue the Bitmoji integration within its popular Gboard keyboard application. Gboard, which allows users to insert GIFs and stickers into messages across various apps, will no longer feature direct support for the customizable cartoon avatars.
A notification is now being presented to some Gboard users, informing them of the change. The warning explicitly states, “Bitmoji in Gboard is going away on December 15, 2025.” Reports suggest this message may be targeted specifically at users who have previously engaged with the Bitmoji sticker feature in the keyboard app. The removal of the feature aligns with code discovered within the Gboard application earlier this year. That code had previously indicated that Bitmoji support would be phased out sometime before 2026.
Bitmoji is a service that enables people to create personalized cartoon avatars that mirror their appearance, complete with customizable clothing and accessories. These avatars are then used to generate a wide array of stickers for digital communication. Despite its removal from Gboard, the Bitmoji service is not being shut down. The stickers will remain accessible through other applications that support them and via the official Bitmoji website.
To help users adapt to the change, the in-app Gboard warning includes a direct link to the Bitmoji sticker web portal. This link directs users to bitmoji.com/stickers, where they can continue to create, manage, and share their personalized stickers after the integration ends. This ensures that a pathway to use the feature remains available even after it is no longer embedded directly within Google’s keyboard.
