Sometimes you just don’t want to be bothered. If you want some peace and quiet for a while, there are a number of ways you can block all incoming calls on both standard stock Android and Samsung Galaxy devices. This article teaches you how to block all incoming calls on an Android device.

Before you start: For the call barring and call forwarding methods, you may need a 4-digit code from your mobile provider. Common default codes are 0000 or 1234.

A guide to blocking all incoming phone calls on Android

Follow these different methods to stop all calls from reaching your stock Android or Samsung Galaxy phone, ensuring you get the peace and quiet you need.

Method 1: Using Do Not Disturb on Samsung Galaxy

  • Open the Settings app by swiping down from the top of the screen and tapping the gear icon (⚙️) in the upper-right corner.
  • Tap on Notifications, which is next to an icon that looks like a text-message bubble.
  • Select the Do Not Disturb option, located towards the bottom of the Notifications menu.
  • Tap the toggle switch at the top of the menu to turn on Do not disturb.
  • Under the “Allowed during Do not disturb” header, tap on Calls and messages.
  • Tap on Calls, which is the first option listed.
  • Select the None option to ensure that no calls are allowed while Do Not Disturb is active.
  • Optionally, you can tap the toggle switch next to Repeat callers. Leave this off to block all calls, or turn it on to allow a call if the same person calls twice within 15 minutes.

Method 2: Using Do Not Disturb on stock Android

  • Open your phone’s Settings app. You can find this by swiping down to open the Notifications panel and tapping the gear icon.
  • SelectSound & vibration, which is next to an icon that resembles a speaker.
  • Tap on Do Not Disturb.
  • Tap the large Turn on Now button at the top of the menu.
  • Under the “What can interrupt Do Not Disturb” header, tap on People.
  • Tap on Calls to manage call exceptions.
  • Tap the radio button next to None to block all incoming calls.
  • Ensure the toggle for Allow Repeat Callers is turned off to block all calls without exception.

Method 3: Using call barring on Samsung Galaxy

  • Open the Phone app, which is the phone receiver icon usually found at the bottom of your home screen.
  • Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner to open a pop-up menu.
  • Tap on Settings at the bottom of the menu.
  • SelectSupplementary services, which is located towards the bottom of the Call Settings menu.
  • Tap on Call barring from the list of options.
  • Tap the toggle switch next to All incoming calls to block all calls.
  • Enter your 4-digit barring code and tapOK to confirm. If you are unsure of the code, try 0000 or 1234, or contact your mobile provider.

Method 4: Using call barring on stock Android

  • Open the Phone app from your home screen.
  • Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner and then selectSettings.
  • Tap on Calls, located near the center of the menu.
  • SelectSupplementary services from the Calls menu.
  • Tap on Call barring.
  • Tap the toggle switch next to All incoming calls.
  • Enter your 4-digit provider code and tapOK to activate the block.

Method 5: Using call forwarding on Samsung Galaxy

  • Open the Phone app and tap the three-dot menu (⋮), then selectSettings.
  • Tap on Supplementary services.
  • SelectCall forwarding from the menu.
  • Tap on Always forward, which is the first option at the top.
  • Enter a fake or non-working phone number and then tapTurn on. All calls will now be sent to this number, and the caller will receive an error message.

Method 6: Using call forwarding on stock Android

  • Open the Phone app, tap the three-dot menu (⋮), and selectSettings.
  • Tap on Calls, then selectCall forwarding.
  • Tap the Always forward option.
  • Enter a fake phone number and tapEnable.
  • TapOK to confirm. All incoming calls are now blocked by being forwarded to a dead number.
Pro tip: For a faster, temporary solution, enable Airplane Mode. This blocks all calls, texts, and data connections, but it is very easy to toggle on and off from your Quick Settings panel.

Remember that all of these methods are reversible. To start receiving calls again, simply navigate back to the same settings menu you used and toggle the feature off. For Do Not Disturb, you can tap the icon in your Quick Settings panel again. For call barring or call forwarding, you will need to disable the setting in the phone’s supplementary services menu.

If you want to block most calls but still allow emergencies or important contacts through, explore the exception settings within Do Not Disturb. You can often allow calls from starred contacts or from anyone who calls twice in a short period. This gives you a great balance between achieving peace and quiet while remaining accessible to key people.
