Tencent has made discreet updates to the Steam page for its upcoming adventure game, “Light of Motiram,” shortly after Sony initiated a copyright infringement lawsuit. Sony alleges that “Light of Motiram,” developed by Tencent’s Polaris Quest studio, is a “slavish clone” of its popular “Horizon” video game franchise.

The lawsuit, announced in July, claims Tencent sought permission to license the “Horizon” intellectual property but proceeded with “Light of Motiram” despite Sony’s refusal. “Light of Motiram,” revealed late last year, is described as a post-apocalyptic open-world survival crafting game featuring mechanized animal-like creatures, which Sony states bear a significant resemblance to those in the “Horizon” series.

Although Tencent has not publicly commented on the lawsuit, changes recorded on SteamDB confirm quiet updates to the game’s Steam page. These modifications include the removal of several screenshots and trailers, as well as the replacement of the original cover image which featured a character visually similar to “Horizon’s” protagonist, Aloy. Additionally, promotional images on the Steam store have been swapped out.

The game’s description has also been revised. Previously, it highlighted themes of “colossal machines,” “advanc[ing] technology,” and “train[ing] Mechanimals.” The updated description now emphasizes survival challenges, stating, “Make smart use of everything around you to stay alive and face off against formidable bosses, every step is fraught with danger and requires courage. Only by overcoming the challenges of survival can you carve out a place for yourself in this unforgiving land.” This new description omits direct references to advanced technology or “Mechanimals.”

These changes coincide with Sony’s earlier announcement this year regarding an upcoming film adaptation of Guerrilla’s “Horizon” games.
