Google has announced an update to its Gemini 2.5 Pro preview model, claiming enhanced capabilities in certain programming tasks. This “updated preview” builds upon the earlier Gemini 2.5 Pro upgrade revealed approximately a month ago.
According to Google, the updated Gemini 2.5 Pro is available immediately through its AI developer platforms, AI Studio and Vertex AI, as well as the Gemini app. General availability for the model is expected in a “couple of weeks.”
In a blog post, Google stated, “[Gemini 2.5 Pro] continues to excel at coding, leading on difficult coding benchmarks.” The company also highlighted the model’s performance on challenging evaluations, noting it “shows top-tier performance [on] highly challenging benchmarks that evaluate a model’s math, science, knowledge, and reasoning capabilities.”
Beyond improved coding abilities, Google indicated that the update incorporates feedback from the previous 2.5 Pro release, leading to improvements in the model’s style and structure. Google claims the updated 2.5 Pro can now be “more creative with better-formatted responses.”
