Telegram has released new updates, enhancing its sticker search and video consumption features for its app users worldwide.

Improved sticker search

Telegram’s update expands its AI-powered sticker search, which was first introduced in December with a limit of 40,000 stickers. Users can now input natural language queries, such as “Thinking monkey” or “Dog eyebrow raise,” and receive results from millions of stickers across the platform.

The update enables searches in English, Spanish, Arabic, and 26 other languages using complex, multi-keyword prompts. The improved search covers millions of official stickers, sticker packs, and user-created stickers, marking a significant upgrade from the previous version.

Enhanced video features

The latest update includes features to improve video consumption on Telegram. Users can now share links to videos with an exact timestamp, similar to YouTube’s functionality. By choosing a specific timestamp, the video link is automatically amended to start from that moment.

Telegram has also introduced custom video cover options for Channels. Users can select a frame from a video to use as a cover photo, similar to video thumbnails on other platforms. The in-app video editor allows customization of the cover by adding text, stickers, and emoji.

Additionally, the update supports saved progress for videos. Users can resume watching a video from the exact point where they left off, eliminating the need to manually adjust the playback seekbar.

Additional platform updates

Telegram has recently enhanced its channels and bot discovery features. In 2023, the app introduced channel discovery features, such as suggesting similar channels when a user joins one. This concept has been extended to bot services; profiles now include a “Similar Bots” tab to help users find related bots.

The update also includes new reaction features. Telegram users can react to channel posts with Stars, and a leaderboard is available to promote creators using this feature.

Telegram remains known for its liberal media file size limits, which facilitates sharing large video files. Despite ongoing efforts to remove groups and channels hosting pirated content—15 million were removed last year—Telegram continues to support a wide variety of content.
