Sonos is finally bringing wireless headphones to compete with AirPods Max

All headphone brands are trying to compete with Apple’s Airpods by bringing different devices and Sonos is reportedly introducing wireless headphones.

After many rumors, everything indicates that Sonos will present its wireless headphones, rivals to the AirPods Max, possibly in early March.

There were already plenty of clues indicating that, but the recent post of a Sonos patent confirms it; registered in Germany, these headphones have already become the most anticipated headphones in the industry.

A patent reveals possible Sonos wireless headphones

The headphones, which are still unnamed, are very different from the first leaked designs, and remind us much more of what companies like Shure and their Aonic 50 have achieved. As expected, these headphones will be high-end and likely use quality materials.

The patent designs reveal how Sonos will integrate its logo on the different parts of the cups, but there are also some interesting technical aspects. For example, we see not only a USB-C connection, to recharge the headphones, but also a conventional audio jack; therefore, we will probably be able to use them both wirelessly and by connecting them to a wired stereo.

The patent reveals the position of what may be integrated buttons, but they do not appear to be volume buttons, but rather on/off buttons and lights to indicate status. Therefore, it is possible that they may have touch zones to control the volume or possible noise cancellation.

Among the technologies that could be integrated, these headphones could allow us to pass music to a Sonos speaker; for example, if we return home with the headphones on, we could have the music continue on the large speakers.

A new Sonos speaker will also come to market

And speaking of speakers, the other rumored device would be a new small speaker, even more portable than the Sonos Move. In recent months we have seen many portable speakers, waterproof and ideal for daily use.

The new Sonos speaker would be very small, and would have an internal battery; the interesting thing is that it would come with a wireless charging base, so we would only have to put it on top when we finish using it to recharge. The design would probably be cylindrical and easy to carry.

The company will also bring a new speaker.

Another important new feature would be WiFi 5 compatibility; the Move only supports WiFi 4, so this new model could take better advantage of our wireless network. Although, of course, it would have Bluetooth to connect to our devices.
