With the new Apple Music update motion album covers are coming to the app.
Streaming music platforms continue their particular battle to get new subscribers. Although Spotify is currently the one with the most users, both paid and free, Apple is not giving up on its efforts to get the top spot. It’s complicated, but the same goes for some of the improvements Apple has been introducing in recent months.
The fact is that the company already tried every way imaginable. Apple spends a lot of money for working miracles with exclusive artists etc, they now want to become a showcase for animated content in special albums. The new feature is seen by some iOS and macOS X users.
Apple Music beta update includes motion album covers
Apple Music has just prepared an update that will be fully functional with iOS 14.3 beta and Big Sur 11.1 macOS, which are already available to developers. This discovery has allowed them to enjoy the art of moving covers, something that will give more life to our smartphone screen.
Now, don’t think that this update will take too long to arrive to your app. Both iOS 14.3 and macOS 11.1 Big Sur will arrive on the users’ devices in the next days. So they will be able to check these animated covers in some selected artists. At the moment they can not be enjoyed with most groups, bands, and singers. So as the months go by, this feature will be used by more companies and artists.
- You can now use Apple Music within the Google Assistant
- Google Nest is now compatible with Apple Music
These animations were already present on the platform for some playlists highlighted by Apple Music. But it wasn’t used on the albums until now. Moreover, the format allows an almost square aspect ratio for the covers, direct legacy of old vinyls or more modern CDs. As you can see from the screenshots above, the whole image increases its size to practically more than half of the entire screen.
