Apple released the second beta of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 to developers as part of its preparation for the full launch this fall. This update builds on features highlighted during WWDC 2026, particularly enhancements to the Siri virtual assistant.
A new feature called “Write with Siri” replaces the previous AI-powered Writing Tools prompt for iPhone and iPad users. This prompt appears above the keyboard before typing begins and reduces to the Siri icon when writing is initiated without the assistant’s help.
Incremental updates to Siri in this beta include improved performance and elements of the Expressive Voice preview marked as “coming soon.” Additionally, the beta introduces support for message reactions and in-line replies for RCS communications in the Messages app, enhancing integration between Apple and non-Apple device messaging.
Other notable changes address issues from the first beta, particularly regarding iPhone Mirroring in macOS Golden Gate. The latest update also allows firmware updates for AirPods Max 2. Developers are expected to discover further details as they explore this second beta ahead of the official launch.
