OpenAI announced that ChatGPT is now available in Microsoft PowerPoint, allowing users to create new presentation slides as well as edit and update existing ones. The chatbot operates using natural language prompts and can also pull material from connected services like Gmail, Outlook, or SharePoint. This feature is currently in beta, accessible to most OpenAI users, including those on the free access tier and ChatGPT Business subscribers.

This functionality is similar to a feature that rival Anthropic has offered with its Claude chatbot since September. Google’s Gemini platform also integrates with the company’s Slides application. OpenAI’s expansion into PowerPoint comes as the company appears to be preparing for a high-value initial public offering (IPO), prompting it to match competitors’ offerings.

ChatGPT is already integrated with other enterprise tools such as Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, making its addition to PowerPoint a logical extension of its capabilities.
