Privacy will be a major theme when Apple unveils a new version of Siri at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The Siri relaunch is widely viewed as Apple’s key opportunity to regain relevance in artificial intelligence.

Executives will argue that Apple is adopting a more privacy-friendly approach than most other AI companies, Gurman reported. The company is expected to launch the first standalone Siri app, powered by Google Gemini, which will provide users with a chatbot experience similar to ChatGPT.

The new Siri app is set to implement stricter limitations on how long user information can be utilized and stored. Gurman stated the app may include a feature akin to the Messages app, permitting users to automatically delete conversations after 30 days, one year, or to retain them indefinitely.

Additionally, Gurman suggested that Apple could emphasize privacy to explain Siri’s shortcomings compared to competing products, potentially downplaying the role of Google in managing some security measures.
