Google is testing a new interface for its Gemini Live assistant, designed as an interactive pill-shaped bar that reacts to user inputs. The updated UI can reportedly respond to taps and offers a feature that allows it to “wave back” at users during interactions.

This new experience appears to be part of a limited test rollout of the Gemini Live platform. Earlier this month, Google initiated a major redesign of the Gemini UI, aimed at enhancing user responsiveness.

According to a report by @testingcatalog on X, the new dynamic island UI for Gemini Live turns the assistant into a responsive interface that reacts to touches and gestures. However, the rollout is not widespread; testing across various accounts on both Android and iOS revealed the updated UI on only one out of ten accounts.

As a result, it seems Google is conducting a gradual rollout or testing phase for the updated Gemini Live experience. The company continues to tweak the assistant’s UI to improve overall interactivity ahead of upcoming product announcements, such as Google I/O.
