Valve will open reservations for the second wave of Steam Controllers on May 8, following the quick sell-out of the first batch within a day. The company is implementing a reservation system to better manage sales, aiming to prevent hardware from being acquired by bots or resellers.

The reservation queue will open at 1 PM ET/10 AM PT on May 8. Each user will be limited to the purchase of one controller, and those who have previously bought a Steam Controller will not be eligible to acquire another at this time. Prospective customers will be contacted sequentially from the reservation queue, with a 72-hour window to finalize their purchase.

This sales approach may indicate a similar system will be used for future products like the Steam Machine and Steam Frame VR, helping to ensure fair access for all consumers.
