Etsy announced the launch of its native app within ChatGPT, allowing shoppers to access its catalog of over 100 million listings. The app enables users to conduct searches via natural language instead of traditional keyword queries. For example, users can input requests like, “Help me find a Mother’s Day gift under $100 for my mom who loves gardening.”

The feature, currently in beta, allows users to tag @Etsy directly in prompts. The ChatGPT-integrated Etsy app will provide relevant product listings for shoppers to browse, compare, and purchase directly. This initiative follows Etsy’s early partnership with ChatGPT for Instant Checkout, which ended in March due to low sales volume.

In conjunction with the app launch, Etsy is testing a conversational search experience designed to assist users in finding gifts. This gift assistant functions as a personal shopper, facilitating a guided conversation to uncover product ideas and preferences. The app represents a component of Etsy’s broader AI strategy, which includes AI-powered discovery tools and seller resources.

Etsy recently reported its Q1 2026 earnings, achieving $631 million in revenue and an increase in marketplace gross merchandise sales of 6% year over year. Active buyers rose to 86.6 million, marking the first growth in two years, alongside 5.6 million active sellers.

In February, Etsy announced the sale of its Depop platform to eBay for $1.2 billion in cash, a strategic move to focus on its core marketplace. The company joins others, including Angi, SeatGeek, Tubi, and Wix, in developing native apps within ChatGPT since developers gained this capability in October.
