Rumors about the size of the Dynamic Island cutout on the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max have persisted for months. A tipster on X claimed to have received new CAD files for these devices, likely sourced from a case maker that obtained them from Apple. The CAD images indicate a significantly smaller punch-hole cutout at the top of the screen compared to the iPhone 14 Pro.
The new cutout appears slightly taller but noticeably less wide than its predecessor. If accurate, this change may suggest that Apple has relocated certain Touch ID sensors under the display, allowing for a reduction in the size of the cutout.
Sources indicate that the rear design of both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max is expected to remain largely unchanged from the previous generation. Thus, the smaller Dynamic Island cutout could be the main design feature distinguishing this year’s iPhone Pro models.
