Google has begun rolling out an update for its chatbot, Gemini, which enables users to generate files directly from the prompt bar.
The update allows users to request specific outputs, such as “create a budget,” and download the files in various formats, enhancing productivity and workflow integration.
Supported file formats include PDF, TXT, RTF, CSV, Microsoft Word, Excel, Markdown, and LaTeX. LaTeX is widely utilized in the scientific community for formatting documents and journals, making this feature particularly relevant.
The update empowers Gemini to generate diagrams using LaTeX, benefiting students in STEM fields. Google stated that this feature will ease the transition of work across different applications without the need for copying, pasting, or reformatting.
This functionality is being made available to all Gemini users globally, including those with individual Workspace accounts. Anthropic’s Claude chatbot has offered similar capabilities, such as file editing and generation, since September of the previous year.
“Instead of copying, pasting and reformatting, this update will allow you to easily move your work into different applications,” Google said regarding the enhancement.
