Amazon has announced a software update for the Kindle Colorsoft and Kindle Scribe Colorsoft, introducing dark mode to both e-reader devices.

The update allows users to toggle dark mode settings for specific menus, enabling customization of their library and notebook interfaces. This feature addresses a notable omission that has been present in other Kindle devices.

Additionally, the update introduces Smart Shapes to notebooks, providing users with pre-drawn lines, arrows, circles, triangles, and rectangles from a new toolbar. The update also includes a hold-to-snap tool, which enables users to draw shapes freehand that are automatically adjusted into neat designs.

The update is set to roll out across the ecosystem in the coming days, enhancing the note-taking experience for users of these devices. The Kindle Scribe Colorsoft has faced scrutiny for offering fewer features compared to competitors, highlighting the need for improvements.

Cherlynn Low stated in her review that while the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft serves as a good e-reader, it falls short in several areas that need addressing.
