YouTube TV has launched a customizable Multiview feature that allows users to select their own channels to view simultaneously. This enhancement comes in response to user demands during peak sports seasons, where monitoring multiple events is essential.

The original Multiview option presented users with automatically curated channel setups. With the new customizable version, users can choose their preferred streams. This feature is a server-side rollout and is not dependent on any specific app version, with availability expected shortly on user devices.

In addition to the Multiview update, YouTube is testing a “side-by-side” ad format for live streams. These ads appear at the bottom of the screen while live stream audio is muted, a move proposed to keep viewers engaged without interrupting the stream.

Google has also expanded this ad format to mobile platforms, allowing the same side-by-side viewing experience across devices. The company’s exploration of these ad formats aims to improve monetization methods for YouTube live content.
