Meta announced an update to its Accounts Center, which centralizes management for users’ accounts. The upgrade will now include Threads profiles, AI glasses accounts, and other Meta products, simplifying management.

The updated Accounts Center will allow users to manage existing Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp login details alongside new products such as Meta AI and Meta Quest headsets. Meta aims to streamline account management while enhancing security features.

Meta stated, “Your day-to-day experiences with Meta technologies will stay the same. Once your Accounts Center updates to a Meta Account, you’ll have a simpler login experience for your apps and devices, enhanced security features, and the ability to manage more settings and preferences in one place.”

This change is particularly advantageous for parents overseeing teenagers’ accounts, as they can manage settings across multiple apps from a single dashboard through Family Center. Meta emphasized, “You can manage teens’ Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, and Meta Horizon settings from a single, simplified dashboard through Family Center.”

The update introduces a centralized login option, enabling users to set up one password for accessing all Meta apps and devices. Improvements to device setup will reduce time taken by sharing login information, while enhanced security options will include passkeys for logging in via fingerprint, face recognition, or device passwords.

Meta indicated that “with your Meta Account, passkeys will now work on Instagram, in addition to Facebook and Messenger, with more apps coming soon.” WhatsApp will maintain a higher security tier, allowing users independent management options, although they can incorporate it into the Accounts Center tools if desired.

The revision will also allow users to manage information sharing between Meta apps easilier. The overall goal of the update is to provide a simpler user experience and improve account security through streamlined controls.

Meta confirmed that users’ Account Center details will migrate automatically to the updated system, integrating all current apps and tools into the revised experience.
