The global memory shortage is impacting Apple’s product release schedule, with potential delays for the next Mac Studio and MacBook Pro. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, at least two forthcoming devices may debut later than initially planned due to the ongoing shortages.

The estimated release of the refreshed Mac Studio, expected to feature M4 Max and M3 Ultra configurations, could be pushed to around October. It was originally slated for mid-year release but has faced stock shortages, attributed to its popularity among users running local AI models.

Additionally, Gurman indicated that the launch of the upcoming MacBook Pro, which may include a touchscreen, could also be deferred. The predicted timeline for its release has shifted from late 2026 to a later date in early 2027.

Gurman stated, “At least two of the company’s upcoming machines…could debut a little later than the company initially planned,” highlighting the broader implications of the global memory crisis affecting all laptop manufacturers, not just Apple.

Despite these challenges, Apple may benefit from the success of its recent MacBook Neo release, which could help mitigate the impact of the RAM shortage across the industry.
