Spotify has launched a new feature allowing users in the U.S. and U.K. to purchase physical books through its app in partnership with Bookshop.org. The feature is now live and adds a “Get a copy for your bookshelf” button on audiobook pages.

This move positions Spotify as a competitor to major booksellers and aligns with its broader strategy focused on profitability. Access to the new book purchasing feature is currently limited to Android users, with iOS support expected next week.

Spotify’s integration of physical book sales marks a significant expansion of its services, which also includes several recent updates. The company reported reaching 751 million monthly active listeners, indicating a strong user base that supports these initiatives.

In addition to book sales, Spotify has expanded its “Page Match” feature to include more than 30 additional languages. This tool allows users to scan pages from physical or e-books and directs them to corresponding audiobook sections. Since its launch for English books, users of Page Match have streamed 55% more audiobook hours each week.

Statistics show that 62% of Page Matched audiobook titles are books that users had never streamed before. Spotify also introduced “Audiobook Recaps” on Android, providing users with concise audio summaries to help them catch up on their listening.

Furthermore, “Audiobook Charts” have been officially launched in Germany, following their debut in the U.S. and U.K. These charts are designed to help users discover trending and popular books on the platform.
