Google has released the April Android Canary build, designated as Android Canary 2604 (ZP11.260320.007), which includes experimental features for Pixel 8 and newer devices.

The Canary build offers early access to features under development, and it was launched a few days earlier this month compared to last month’s release on March 19. Google advises users to avoid installing Canary builds on primary devices because of potential instability issues.

The latest build presents several user interface changes. A new notification message, “You’re all caught up,” replaces the previous “No notifications” text. Additionally, app icon long-press menus have been redesigned to be more compact, with shortcuts now initially collapsed behind a “Shortcuts” toggle.

Furthermore, after users expand shortcuts, the actions menu will also be collapsed by default, accessible via an “Actions” toggle. These features are still in testing, highlighting the experimental nature of the Canary channel.

Images for other Pixel devices, including Pixel 7a, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7, Pixel 6a, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6, Pixel Fold, and Pixel Tablet, will be made available at a later date, according to Google.

“The Canary channel is Google’s experimental Android track,” stated Mishaal Rahman from Google. “The features included here are under active development.”
