Instagram announced an update allowing users to edit their comments within 15 minutes of posting. This feature enables multiple edits during the time window, but only text can be modified; comments with images remain unchanged.

The update reflects Instagram’s commitment to enhancing user experience and addressing frustrations. Prior reports indicated that users had spotted the editing function in testing phases, leading to anticipation for its official launch.

Online reactions to the announcement have been largely favorable. One user remarked, “It’s about time,” while another humorously noted, “Not sure why it took 73 years, but I’m glad.” Other users will see that comments have been edited, but the original text will remain hidden.

Simultaneously, Instagram updated its policy on restricting certain content for accounts belonging to users aged 13 and older based on movie ratings. This policy change responds to increasing scrutiny concerning the platform’s effect on young users.

Last month, Meta encountered two significant legal setbacks. A New Mexico court held the company accountable for endangering child safety, while a Los Angeles jury concluded that Meta’s app design fosters addiction among children, adversely affecting their mental health. Currently, thousands of legal cases are pending against Meta, with 40 state attorneys general pursuing legal action.
