Snapchat announced that its Creator Subscriptions are now available to all eligible Snap creators, according to a press release sent to Social Media Today. This initiative aims to enhance user engagement and retain influential content creators on the platform.
The Creator Subscription program, launched in February, allows users to monetize their content through features such as direct Snaps, subscriber-only Stories, and priority replies. Initially limited to Snap Stars, or verified creators with substantial followings, the program has now opened qualifying subscriptions to a broader group of eligible creators.
To qualify for a Creator Account, users must have a Public Profile, be active in posting to Stories and Spotlight, and demonstrate audience growth. Although Snapchat has not specified detailed qualification criteria, context indicates that the creator revenue share program requires 50,000 followers and 15,000 hours of cumulative view time per month, with at least 3,000 hours originating from Spotlight.
Reports suggest that some users have gained access to Creator Accounts with as few as 30,000 followers, but approval appears to be determined at Snapchat’s discretion. Eligible users can now utilize the subscription options to create a monetizable community on the app.
Snapchat announced these changes during its first-ever “Snappys” award ceremony on March 31, where it recognized prominent creators within the platform. The ceremony was described by Snapchat as marking “a new flagship moment for Snapchat — spotlighting Snap Stars as the next generation of cultural leaders across entertainment, sports, beauty, and beyond.”
