Airbnb announced an expansion of its services feature, introducing a new category for car pickups in 125 cities worldwide. The company is partnering with Welcome Pickups to provide private car services in major cities including Paris, Bali, and Mexico City.
The initiative follows a pilot program conducted earlier this year in Europe and Asia, which involved thousands of guests and received an average rating of 4.96. When users book a stay where the service is available, they will find an option to schedule a private cab in the Trips tab of the Airbnb app, allowing them to view and amend reservation details directly within the app.
“Airbnb Services are designed to enhance a guest’s stay, and our partnership with Welcome Pickups delivers that from the moment they arrive,” said Dave Stephenson, Airbnb’s chief business officer.
Airbnb plans to increase the coverage of the car pickup service throughout the year. The company introduced its services category last summer alongside an expansion into experiences, offering ten categories that include chefs, catering, prepared meals, photography, massages, spa treatments, personal training, hair, nails, and makeup across eight countries.
In November, the company partnered with Instacart to enable grocery orders for guests in select U.S. cities before and during their stay. This rollout of the car service is seen as part of Airbnb’s strategy to diversify its service offerings.
The company is also exploring the option for users to book hotel rooms. CEO Brian Chesky emphasized during the Q4 2025 earnings call that the hotel sector presents a significant opportunity for Airbnb to cater to various guest preferences.
