WhatsApp is introducing AI-generated suggested replies based on conversation context, alongside other new features.
The update expands the messaging platform’s “Writing Help” functionality, potentially increasing user engagement with Meta’s in-app AI tools for drafting messages and managing content.
The “Writing Help” feature, initially launched in August, previously allowed users to rephrase, proofread, or adjust message tone. The new iteration, announced on Thursday in a company blog post, will aid users in drafting new messages.
WhatsApp stated that chats remain private even when the “Writing Help” feature is utilized. Users can access the AI features by tapping the chat bar, selecting the stickers icon, and then choosing the pencil with sparkledust icon.
The Meta-owned platform is also enabling users to find and delete large files directly within any chat, allowing for targeted media removal without clearing entire conversation histories.
Users can now employ Meta AI to edit photos directly within chats, enabling tasks like object removal, background alteration, or style application.
WhatsApp has also added the ability to transfer chat history from iOS to Android devices, and within the same operating system. iOS users can now maintain two WhatsApp accounts simultaneously, a feature previously available on Android.
The platform will also suggest stickers to users as they type emojis. WhatsApp stated these new features are currently rolling out and will be accessible to all users shortly.
