Apple has discontinued the Mac Pro, its desktop tower-shaped computer, marking its removal from the company’s product lineup.
This development signifies the end of Apple’s Intel-based high-end desktop offerings and potentially elevates the Mac Studio as the company’s top-tier professional computer.
The Mac Pro, last updated in 2023, was originally introduced in 2019 featuring Intel chips and expansion slots. Apple transitioned to its custom M-series Arm chips beginning in 2020, offering increased power and efficiency.
The company updated the Mac Pro with the M2 Ultra chip, but did not revise its design. The Mac Studio, introduced in 2022, also supported the M-series chips and has received subsequent updates.
Bloomberg had reported in November 2025 that Apple planned to retire the Mac Pro. Apple confirmed the discontinuation to Engadget.
