Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed that the game will begin in the Great Glacier area and feature Rocket Town, space travel, and Wutai.

The comments, made in an interview with Bloomberg, outline key locations and gameplay elements for the concluding chapter of the remake trilogy. Hamaguchi stated that flying the Highwind will be a significant part of the experience and that the core game is almost complete, with the team focused on refining and polishing.

Hamaguchi confirmed that Wutai will be featured in Part 3. He cited Yuffie’s prominent appearance in the narrative and fan expectation as reasons for the inclusion.

Rocket Town and space travel will also appear in the installment. Hamaguchi noted that these elements were switched around during the development of Rebirth. The Highwind’s gameplay experience has been expanded. Hamaguchi stated that flying is a “very large part” of the third installment.

The director addressed Chocobo elements but did not confirm breeding. Hamaguchi said there is an element involving Chocobos that is “a little different than Rebirth.”

Underwater exploration was not directly addressed. Hamaguchi deferred to director Motomu Toriyama regarding the submarine portion of the game. Queen’s Blood, the card game from Rebirth, will return in a “powered-up” form. Hamaguchi confirmed the card game’s comeback for the final chapter.

The remake series is expanding to multiplatform, including Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox. Hamaguchi insisted that this will “not in any way lower the quality” of Part 3, noting that prior instalments on these platforms were well received.

Hamaguchi recommended the fantasy game Esoteric Ebb. He described the title as “Disco Elysium meets Dungeons & Dragons by way of Douglas Adams or Terry Pratchett.”
