OpenAI has released a standalone Codex application for Windows, following its earlier debut on macOS.

This expansion makes the AI coding tool accessible to a broader developer base, integrating with the prevalent Windows operating system for enhanced workflow management and automation capabilities.

The Windows version of the Codex app allows users to coordinate multiple AI agents on a single task.

It includes support for automations, designed to streamline repetitive processes such as bug testing.

A “Skills” section is incorporated to assist users, providing bundled instructions, resources, and scripts for connecting agents to developer tools and workflows.

OpenAI also included native sandboxing specifically for Windows developer environments.

Codex is available to users across all ChatGPT tiers, including Free, Go, Plus, and Pro accounts.

Session history on the app is saved to the user’s OpenAI account, allowing for continuity across different devices.
