Microsoft announced support for streaming games at 1440p on Xbox consoles. Game streaming is a key Game Pass benefit and, as of 2025, includes games players own outside the Game Pass library. The 1440p option is available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One X, and Xbox One, provided the game and display support it. Previously, 1440p streaming was limited to select Fire TVs, LG TVs, Samsung TVs, web browsers, and the Xbox PC app. The feature is currently restricted to Game Pass Ultimate subscribers.
The Xbox PC app now includes “navigation sounds” for controller input to improve responsiveness. Microsoft is making it easier to format removable storage on the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X handhelds. Driver updates are being rolled out to improve game compatibility on those handhelds.
Former Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer announced his retirement on Friday. Asha Sharma, President of Microsoft’s CoreAI division, was appointed as his replacement. Opinions are divided on whether Sharma’s appointment will benefit Xbox, with further changes expected.
