Samsung will integrate Perplexity as an AI agent into its Galaxy AI platform for the upcoming S26 flagship series, expanding support for multiple AI agents. The integration will allow Perplexity’s agent to work with Samsung applications including Notes, Clock, Gallery, Reminder, and Calendar. Support for some third-party applications is also planned, though specific apps have not yet been identified. The announcement precedes Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event, where more details on the integration are expected.
The Perplexity agent will activate using the wake phrase “Hey Plex” and can also be launched via quick-access physical controls. According to Samsung’s President, COO, and Head of the R&D Office for the Mobile eXperience Business, Won-Joon Choi, Galaxy AI functions as an “orchestrator” that combines different AI forms into a single experience to provide user choice and flexibility. Samsung previously partnered with Perplexity last year to integrate its AI search engine into Samsung TVs.
Perplexity faces allegations regarding content scraping and copyright infringement. In September, Merriam-Webster and Encyclopedia Britannica filed a lawsuit against the company.
