Adobe introduced new AI-powered tools for Premiere and After Effects to enhance video editing workflows. These updates include an Object Mask feature for Premiere and SVG import capabilities for After Effects, designed to streamline creative processes for users.
Premiere, Adobe’s video-editing software, now features an AI-powered Object Mask that allows users to select and track individuals or objects within video clips by hovering and clicking to generate a mask overlay. This tool, utilizing Adobe’s proprietary AI model, processes on-device and does not use user data for model training. Users can adjust and resize the mask as needed.
The Shape Mask tool in Premiere has also been upgraded, providing redesigned Ellipse, Rectangle, and Pen masks directly from the toolbar. Controls for these masks have been updated for increased precision in movement and adjustment. These masks track objects 20 times faster than previous versions. Additionally, Premiere now facilitates the direct import of media from Firefly Boards, Adobe’s AI-powered digital canvas, and features full integration with Adobe Stock.
After Effects received an update enabling the direct import of SVG files, a format frequently used in Illustrator. Furthermore, users can now construct graphics and photorealistic objects within images using 3D parametric meshes. These meshes include cubes, spheres, cylinders, cones, tori, and planes, expanding the visual effects software’s capabilities.
