Tesla has launched a seven-seat version of its 2026 Model Y on the company’s website. The option adds a third row for an extra $2,500 and is available only on the Premium All-Wheel-Drive Long ISP model.

The company first teased the seven-seat configuration last year in an email to prospective buyers, stating “seating for up to seven and enough room for everyone’s gear.” Images from Tesla’s configurator show the third-row seats with limited legroom, suitable mainly for children. Tesla describes the interior as featuring fold-flat second-row and third-row seats, though it does not specify if the third-row folds electrically like the second row.

Tesla previously offered a seven-seat Model Y in the U.S. for a short period before a refresh early last year, after which only five-seat versions were available. The company launched a six-seat “Model YL” in China in August 2025, which includes a six-inch wheelbase extension not present in the U.S. model. Elon Musk stated the Model YL would arrive in the U.S. in late 2026 or possibly “never.”

Tesla faces heightened competition in the crossover and SUV segment and reported a sales decline last quarter.

Updates to the Premium Model Y lineup are minor and include a 20-inch dark-grey “Helix” wheel option, a new black headliner, a larger higher-resolution 16-inch display, and darker rear badging.
