HBO Max has rolled out a new rating system for its content, allowing users to provide feedback on shows and movies. The feature, launched on October 22, 2025, presents three options: “Love,” “Like,” and “Not For Me.” Based on these selections, the streaming service will adjust user recommendations.

Content that a user marks as “Love” will be used to populate a new “Because You Love” carousel on the homepage. Conversely, titles rated as “Not For Me” will be deprioritized in future suggestions. The company first began testing the rating system last year as part of an effort to personalize its homepage. The functionality is similar to the thumbs-up, double thumbs-up, and thumbs-down options used by Netflix.

The launch occurred one day after parent company Warner Bros. Discovery announced it is ready for a sale. The announcement also included a price increase for its streaming plans for the third consecutive year. The new rating system is available on the HBO Max app for web, mobile, and smart TV platforms. Users can rate a title by clicking the “Rate” button on its description page or by choosing an option that appears after viewing is complete.
