Samsung subsidiary Harman has completed its $350 million acquisition of Sound United, the former audio business of Masimo. First announced in May, the deal expands Samsung’s portfolio of audio brands, which it grew significantly with the $8 billion purchase of Harman in 2016.

The acquisition brings Bowers & Wilkins, Denon, Marantz, Definitive Technology, Polk Audio, HEOS, Classé, and Boston Acoustics under the same ownership as existing Harman brands like JBL and Harman Kardon. To maintain brand integrity and customer loyalty, Sound United will operate as a standalone business within Harman’s lifestyle division.

Dave Rogers, Harman’s lifestyle lead, stated, “Sound United’s impressive roster of brands is rooted in a deep passion for sound, innovation, and commitment to quality that aligns with Harman’s own values. This transaction unlocks meaningful growth opportunities for everyone. It bolsters Harman’s strategy to build on its unparalleled success story and scale to unprecedented heights as an audio leader.”

With the sale finalized, Masimo can now direct its attention to the lawsuit it filed in August against U.S. Customs and Border Protection regarding the Apple Watch.
