Adobe has announced the upcoming launch of its Premiere video editing platform for iOS, slated for release on September 30. The app is currently available for pre-order on the App Store. According to Adobe, the free-to-use app will provide users with tools and controls similar to the desktop version of Premiere Pro, including features like a multi-track timeline and dynamic audio waveforms.

The new iOS app does not replace the existing Premiere Rush application. An Android version is currently in development, though a release date has not been announced.

Mike Polner, VP of Product Marketing and GM of Next Gen Creators at Adobe, emphasized the app’s accessibility, stating, “We’re bringing Adobe Premiere to mobile…now reimagined as a fast, free, and intuitive app that puts pro‑level creative control in your hands, without the pro‑level complexity.”

The free version of the video editing app does not add watermarks to edited videos. It mirrors the desktop version by offering multi-track timelines and dynamic audio waveforms. Users can trim, layer, and fine-tune videos frame by frame. Additional features include automatic captions with stylized subtitles, 4K HDR support, and the ability to add video, audio, and text layers.

While the core features are free, users will have to pay for additional cloud storage and generative AI credits. These credits can be used for a generative sound effects feature, which enables users to create custom sound effects using text prompts and voice input. The app also includes an AI-powered enhanced speech feature that removes background noise from voice-overs.

Adobe Premiere for iOS integrates Adobe Firefly, enabling users to generate video, image, and audio assets from text prompts. Users also gain access to Adobe’s stock asset catalog. The app supports cross-platform functionality, allowing users to start a project on the iOS app and finish it on the desktop version, or vice versa. Designed with mobile-first use in mind, Adobe Premiere allows users to directly upload edited videos to TikTok, YouTube Shorts, or Instagram with a single tap. The app automatically resizes videos to fit each platform’s specifications.
