Google has introduced Pixel Care+, a new device protection program in the U.S., replacing Google Preferred Care and Fi Device Protection. According to a Google blog post, Pixel Care+ aims to provide a “higher level of coverage, service, and peace of mind for Google hardware owners.” Current subscribers to the older programs will transition to Pixel Care+ in the coming months.
The new program offers unlimited claims for accidental and mechanical damage, alongside extended warranty coverage. A key feature is $0 screen and battery repairs, as well as $0 post-warranty malfunction claims. Google emphasizes the use of genuine Google parts and replacements under the Pixel Care+ umbrella.
Subscribers gain priority support from Pixel experts and can initiate self-service claims through the Google Store website. Optional loss and theft coverage is also available. Furthermore, Pixel Care+ includes free upgraded shipping on replacements, with next-day shipping options.
Pricing varies by device; for instance, Pixel Care+ for a Pixel 10 costs $10 per month or $199 for two years. The program is available starting Wednesday for eligible devices, including Pixel 8 and newer models, Pixel Watch 2 and later, the Pixel Tablet, Fitbit Ace LTE, Fitbit Versa 4, Fitbit Sense 2, Fitbit Charge 6, and Fitbit Inspire 3. Customers can add Pixel Care+ within 60 days of device purchase.
Claims can be filed directly through the Google Store, where users can select a repair location and time, or through the My Pixel App.
