Google is developing compatibility between Android’s Quick Share feature and iPhones. This development, initially reported almost a year ago, was revealed through a teardown of the latest Google Play Services beta app. Quick Share, a unified service launched by Google and Samsung on Android last year, currently lacks native iOS support.
The integration hints at a potential requirement for users to be signed into their Google account when sharing files from an Android device to an iPhone. This requirement may not be necessary when sharing between Android devices. The reason for this potential Google account requirement remains unclear, raising questions about whether a Google account will be needed on the iPhone for Quick Share to function, possibly through the Google app.
While the specifics are still speculative, the feature’s partial integration into the Google Play Services beta app suggests a possible upcoming public release. This move would broaden Quick Share’s reach, enabling seamless file sharing between Android and iOS devices.
