Apple is reportedly developing a successor to its current entry-level iPad, which launched in March with the A16 Bionic chip. Accidentally disclosed code references from Apple indicate the next iteration of the affordable tablet will feature the A18 chip.

This A18 chip is also anticipated to power the upcoming iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, and iPhone 16e models. A key benefit of incorporating the A18 chip into the next entry-level iPad will be its capability to support Apple Intelligence features, expected to be a significant selling point.

Rumors suggest the new budget iPad could be released in the spring of next year. It is expected to maintain the design of its predecessor, with the primary upgrade being the improved chip. The current entry-level iPad retails starting at $349, though future pricing remains unconfirmed.
