The official Forza Motorsport account has issued a statement confirming ongoing support for both Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon 5, with developers Turn 10 and Playground Games committed to “continue to support” their existing titles.

This reassurance follows a period of uncertainty generated by massive layoffs across Microsoft a month prior. Initial reports suggested that approximately 50% of Turn 10 staff were impacted, with later reports indicating even more significant cuts, potentially affecting all or most of the studio. A former employee had previously stated that Turn 10 remained open to supporting Forza Horizon, but the Motorsport development side had been fully closed down.

Notably, the statement from the official Forza Motorsport account made no mention of future Forza game development. Forza Motorsport is two years old, while Forza Horizon 5 was released in 2021, leading fans to anticipate a new entry. The future of new titles in either series remains unclear, as does the current capacity of Turn 10 and Playground Games beyond supporting existing games.

Xbox has not yet released an official statement regarding the extent of the impact on Turn 10 or Playground Games, nor has it clarified who is managing the official Forza social media accounts. This announcement comes amidst other updates regarding Xbox-supported projects. It was confirmed that Avalanche Studios-developed Contraband has been canceled, while Hideo Kojima’s OD is still in active development. Additionally, Everwild and Perfect Dark were both revealed to have been canceled a month ago, coinciding with the Microsoft layoffs.
