Spotify has responded to user feedback by introducing the option to disable its recently-added “Create” button from the app’s main navigation bar. This button, relocated months ago from the Library tab to a prominent position on the bottom bar, offered quick access to features like creating new playlists, collaborative playlists, “Blend” mixes, AI playlists, or starting a “Jam” session.
Despite providing handy shortcuts, many users felt these functions didn’t warrant a dedicated navigation bar slot. As of July 31, Spotify implemented a community-suggested solution: the ability to hide the button entirely. This change has now rolled out to users on both Android and iOS platforms.
To disable the “Create” button, users need to navigate within the app settings:
- Tap the profile picture at the top.
- Select “Settings and privacy”.
- Under “Content and display”, toggle the “Create button” option off.
Spotify emphasizes a crucial detail: “This setting is device-specific, so changes won’t sync across your other devices.” Users must manually turn off the button on each device where they use the Spotify app, including when setting up new hardware.
