THQ Nordic announced Darksiders 4 during its 2025 showcase event, revealing a teaser trailer and confirming Gunfire Games as developer. The studio previously created Darksiders 3 (2018) and Darksiders Genesis (2019). This installment continues the saga of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, picking up where the original 2010 game concluded.
Like its predecessors, Darksiders 4 is a third-person action-adventure game featuring combat, traversal, and puzzle-solving in a post-apocalyptic setting. Players control one of the Four Horsemen, each wielding unique weapons and distinct combat styles. Gunfire Games describes the “cinematic” combat as “fast-paced, visceral action blending melee, fluid traversal, and supernatural abilities.”
The game will include single-player, split-screen, and online cooperative modes for 2-4 players. Darksiders 4 represents the franchise’s return after five years of dormancy, during which Gunfire released the Remnant series and Chronos: Before the Ashes. The series debuted with Vigil Games’ Darksiders in 2010, followed by Darksiders 2 in 2012.
No release window was provided, though THQ Nordic confirmed wishlists are now open. The publisher emphasized the game’s “lore rich” world and continuation of the core narrative involving the Horsemen’s struggle to maintain cosmic balance on a ravaged Earth.
