Electronic Arts has confirmed that Battlefield 6 will include a battle royale mode, validating months of industry rumors. Battlefield Global Community Manager Kevin Johnson announced via social media that the mode will soon enter testing within Battlefield Labs.
EA simultaneously released a teaser trailer showcasing explosive, chaotic gameplay moments. This marks the franchise’s second attempt at the genre after 2019’s Battlefield V Firestorm mode, which failed to gain significant traction against competitors like Call of Duty: Warzone.
Leaked details suggest the battle royale map is set in California and will feature troop insertions via CH-47 Chinook helicopters. The destructive ring mechanic—central to battle royale gameplay—is reportedly constructed from a compound called “NXC.”
Battlefield 6 is scheduled for full release on October 10, though EA hasn’t specified if the battle royale mode will launch simultaneously. Developers have emphasized the game will avoid implementing “goofy” cosmetic skins similar to Call of Duty, prioritizing a more authentic military aesthetic instead.
