The Xiaomi 16 series is rumored to be the first smartphones to utilize the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset, according to recent leaks. The devices are reportedly in the pre-launch promotion phase along with the Magic 8 series, Realme GT 8 Pro, and iQOO 15. These smartphones are anticipated to be among the first to integrate Qualcomm’s new chip this year.
According to tipster DigitalChatStation, the Xiaomi 16 series, including the Ultra model, is expected to be the first to feature the second-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite. The launch is projected to occur in September, although Xiaomi has not officially confirmed this timeline. Leaks suggest this as the target launch timeframe.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is internally designated as SM8850. Its CPU, Qualcomm’s proprietary Oryon, is clocked at 4.6GHz, while the GPU operates at 1.2GHz. The chipset is based on TSMC’s N3P (3nm) process and incorporates an Adreno 840 GPU.
