WhatsApp is introducing a new AI-powered “quick chat recap” feature designed to provide users with rapid summaries of their unread conversations. This optional tool utilizes Private Processing to generate concise overviews, differing from the platform’s existing AI summary capabilities.
Unlike the current AI summary feature that summarizes all unread conversations, the new “Quick Recap” allows users to select specific chats for summarization. This enables a more efficient review of messages without needing to open each chat, potentially saving time by bypassing less important content.
Users can access the “Quick Recap” option through the three-dot menu located in the Chats section. The feature leverages Meta AI to generate these summaries while maintaining user privacy through Private Processing, ensuring data remains secure between users and the main server.
The “Quick Recap” tool supports summarization for up to five chats simultaneously. This feature is currently being rolled out to Android beta testers with version 2.25.21.12 and is anticipated to become available to a broader user base in the near future.
